Public Health Ethics and Psychology

English Title: Department of Ethics & Medical Psychology (EPM)

Mission: The Department of Ethics and Medical Psychology teaches the subjects of Medical Ethics and Psychology, State and Law, Law and Medical Inspection, Legal Systems and Medical Ethics in Hospital Work, Psychology of Healthcare Management, Public Health Ethics, Medical Ethics in Public Health, and Social Psychology for undergraduate and postgraduate students at Hanoi Medical University and the Institute of Preventive Medicine and Public Health. Notably, the Department of Ethics and Medical Psychology is responsible for the Bachelor of Psychology training program. With a team of experienced lecturers, who have received fundamental training from prestigious universities both domestically and internationally, the department also offers short-term courses on communication skills and social work in hospitals, as well as psychology in leadership and management.

  • Introduction

Department of Ethics & Medical Psychology was established in 2010. Currently, the Department has been 08 lecturers (1 Asso. Prof, 1 Dr and 4 masters).

  • Primary functions and tasks:
  • Training, supervising final thesis and developing the training curriculum, teaching materials, textbooks of undergraduate and graduate students of the Institute and University in the fields of Medical Ethics, Psychology, State and Law.
  • Creating, organizing and teaching short-term courses and retraining courses related to Psychology Counselling, Social Worker in hospital, Law Counselling and Health Communication skills
  • The main research topics of the department in the Medical Psychosocial field, Medical Ethics and Health Policy
  • Gradually developing law counselling and Psychology Counselling in medical practice.
  • Department achievements in the last 5 years:
  • Published 4 textbooks and dozens of articles published in foreign magazines and national magazines.
  • Took lead and participated in Grassroots’ level projects, state level projects, clinical trials

-      Research direction:

  • The Department will continue to focus on developing applied research topics, as well as international and domestic cooperative projects to promote the holistic nature of research.

Graduated general doctor in 1996 at HMU; PhD in Public Health, specialized on psychosocial medicine in 2006 at Karolinska Institute, Sweden. Experiences in project management; research and international collaboration. Research interested in epidemiology & risk factors of NCD; psychology intervention for cancer patients.
